Rafal Dutkiewicz (Former Mayor of Wroclaw, President of the Employers of Poland)

Former Mayor of Wroclaw, President of the Employers of Poland

Rafal Dutkiewicz graduated from Wroclaw University of Technology, Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology. He defended his doctoral thesis in formal logic (research on Betha's method of semantic tables), at the Faculty of Christian Philosophy of the Catholic University of Lublin. Since the late 1970s, he was associated with the democratic opposition. During martial law, he was a Solidarity activist. In 1989, he became secretary of the Wroclaw "Solidarity" Civic Committee, and in 1990 became its chairman.

In 2002 he became the first mayor of Wroclaw to be directly elected. He served in office continuously for four terms until 2018. As of April 2019, he was in Berlin with the elite Richard von Weizsäcker Academy at the invitation of the Bosch Foundation. He was one of the few foreign guests to receive the honor of speaking, as a guest of honor, at the Bundestag during Memorial Day - one of Germany's major public holidays. He is currently involved with several startups dealing with cutting-edge trends in food production.
He is a member of the Council of the University of Wroclaw, and for many years was also a member and then an honorary member of the Senate of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. He has been awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2009) and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2015).In March 2023 Rafal Dutkiewicz took over as President of the Employers of Poland.

Mateusz Jarzombek, he has been working in Wroclaw and contributing to its development for over 15 years. At the Wroclaw Agglomeration Development Agency, he leads the Business Support Centre, which provides comprehensive services for foreign investment projects in the region. His team ensures post-investment support by organizing a wide range of initiatives dedicated to businesses and the local economic environment.

Together with the Startup Wrocław team, he actively supports and fosters the startup ecosystem, promoting innovative and technology-driven brands under the Made in Wroclaw initiative. He closely collaborates with representatives of the local academic and business communities, engaging in numerous projects aimed at driving the region’s economic growth.

Mateuz presentation is titled Wroclaw: A City of Talents, Innovations, and Collaboration.

Allesandro Saglio (Vice-President of Confindustria Polonia)

Alessandro Saglio is the Vice President of Confindustria Polonia, the Polish subsidiary of Italy's largest manufacturing association.
He has been familiar with the Polish business environment for over 20 years and has been living in Wrocław since 2015. With 30 years of experience in marketing and sales, Alessandro's career began with a technical background that led him to guide complex technical and commercial organizations in industrial automation within the automotive sector, as well as in the field of electronic and electromechanical components for the home appliance industry.
Over the past 8 years, he has contributed with his expertise to the Italian associative system in Poland. Initially, he supported the Polish-Italian Chamber of Commerce, and later became one of the founding members of Confindustria Polonia, which he led for the first 4 years since its inception. During this time, he grew the membership (comprising Italian manufacturing companies in Poland) from just 7 to over 100 companies. Following the most recent board elections in June of last year, he was co-opted as Vice President with a mandate to oversee relations with institutions.

Confindustria Polonia is the leading association for Italian manufacturing in Poland, supporting over 2,500 Italian-owned companies. It aligns with Confindustria Italia’s mission and values, promoting business opportunities, industrial partnerships, and commercial relations. The organization offers networking, seminars, market insights, and legal guidance while advocating for Italian businesses in Poland. As part of Confindustria Est Europa, it connects members to a wider network across 11 Eastern European countries.

Alessandro will be presenting on Navigating the Polish Market: Opportunities and Challenges for Italian Manufacturing.

artosz Majewski is a Polish entrepreneur and investor with extensive experience in sales and business development. He co-founded the consulting firm Casbeg in 2017, serving as CEO for five years, during which the company achieved 20 consecutive quarters of revenue growth and expanded to a team of 30 professionals. Prior to Casbeg, Majewski was a co-founder and Sales Director at Right Hello, a B2B startup where he led an eight-person sales team that acquired over 1,000 clients from 41 countries in just three and a half years. Since 2021, he has been investing in startups, including early-stage investments in companies like Certifier and ElevenLabs.
Majewski is also known for his contributions as a speaker and author, having written numerous articles on sales, business, and marketing, and delivered over a hundred conference presentations.

Dariusz Szewczyk, PhD, DSc, Eng., Chief Technologist, co-owner, and President of the Management Board at ICS Industrial Complete Solutions S.A., is a professional who bridges the worlds of science, technology, and industry.
He earned his PhD at Poznań University of Technology in 2002, followed by a research fellowship at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in 2002–2003. In 2020, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc, habilitation).
Since the beginning of his doctoral studies, Mr. Szewczyk has been engaged in both academic and industrial work focused on industrial combustion processes, particularly the combustion of waste gases, with a strong emphasis on reducing energy consumption and limiting the emission of toxic compounds. He has founded and managed several technology companies, including ICS S.A., established in 2007, which provides its clients with energy-efficient, low-emission industrial combustion systems and their optimization. In recent years, his work has concentrated on developing technologies and solutions that enable the decarbonization and electrification of industry in a broad sense.
In addition to managing ICS S.A., Mr. Szewczyk also delivers guest lectures at universities, including Poznań University of Technology and AGH University of Science and Technology. He is a co-inventor of several Polish and European patents and a co-author of numerous scientific and technical publications.

Additionally, she co-leads workshops on Psychological Safety, helping to raise awareness of its importance in the workplace and applying her academic interests in a real business environment.

Martyna Rutkowska is a 4th-year Psychology student specializing in Business and Organizational Psychology. Since September 2023, she has supported Nokia Poland’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team by organizing events, workshops, and campaigns that promote communication, inclusion, and well-being. She develops educational materials and internal campaigns on effective communication and mutual respect in the workplace. Passionate about psychological safety, she also contributes to internal communications and initiatives that strengthen team relationships.
