The Digital Asset Market has exploded in the last 6 months! Bitcoin closing in on $50k and Ether looking at $2k. The 8400 plus token Digital Asset Market has surged to $1.4 Trillion in Market Capitalization. It was disclosed that Elon Musk’s Tesla bought $1.5 Billion of Bitcoin to invest excess cash (7% of Tesla cash) and will start accepting Bitcoin to purchase new Tesla models.
But not all is good in the Digital Asset realm as the SEC continues it’s suit against Ripple for sale of XRP as an unregistered security.
Hear expert discussion from Patrick J. McCarty, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center and Of Counsel at Ruddy Gregory PLLC, regarding US legislative and regulatory developments related to Bitcoin, Ether and the broader Digital Asset Market. Will the new Biden Administration continue the Trump Administration approach/policies related to Digital Assets? What will FinCEN, SEC, CFTC and OCC do about dividing up jurisdiction? Will SEC Chairman nominee Gary Gensler reconsider whether Bitcoin and Ether are “securities?” Will the new Ether Futures traded on CME have the same success as Bitcoin Futures and Options? Will the US Congress consider legislation – piece meal or comprehensive – regarding Digital Assets? What is the future of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) and what impact, if any, will this have on Stablecoins which are tied to Fiat Currencies?
All this and much, much more from Professor McCarty and Moderator Michael Brown, Partner at Brown, Gee & Wenger, LLP.
