ABL delegates from across the world gathered again for the 37th General Assembly Meeting in Lima, Peru, May 2018.

Carlos Herrera, Former Executive Director of ProInversion, and Ricardo de Urioste, Senior Advisor at the Directorate of the Ministry of Economy for International Economic Affairs, Competition and Productivity, presented on foreign investment opportunities in Peru.

Lilian Rocca, Former Superintendent of the Securities Market of Peru, presented on Corporate Sustainability.

Mark Ruddy, Partner at Ruddy Gregory PLLC, presented on Blockchain Technology.

Further, we thank our panellists who provided valuable insights into generic and specific compliance models in different parts of the world: Toby Stroh - Druces LLP, Andres Bazo and Blaine Bortnick - Rasco Klock Perez & Nieto, Stefano Candela - Franzosi Dal Negro Setti, Laura Gobernado - MG Abogados, Matthias Gieseking - Jacobsen + Confurius, Luciano Lopez and Angel Castro Rivera - MG Abogados Peru.

Other most interesting presentations and debates were presented by Edward Dyer (MG Abogados Peru) and Luis José Diez Canseco (Former President of the Andean Court of Justice) on the New Peruvian Legislation and Standards in Compliance and the Upcoming Rules of Procedure.

Mike Brown - Brown Gee & Wenger LLP - facilitated an interactive discussion on How to Structure and Negotiate Cross-Border Joint Ventures.

Further we had Brett Mikkelson, President of CII, present on The Evolution of KYC Investigations and How They Affect the Banking Industry. Finally, delegates had round table discussions on how to deal with Retirement of Partners.

For the first time, the ABL Award of Excellence was handed over to Andres Bazo of ABLs Miami office Rasco Klock Perez & Nieto, for his efforts in growing our association. Thanks to Andres, ABL is delighted to welcome three new members from Mexico City, Montevideo and New York City.
