Stockholm Conference

Stockholm, Sweden May 07, 2015

ABL delegates from across the world gathered again for the 31st General Assembly Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, May 2015.

Keynote speaker Jeremy Rifkin, world renowned economist, President of the Foundation on Economic Trends and bestselling author, addressed the theme of Ushering in a Third Industrial Revolution and a Zero Marginal Cost Society. According to Rifkin, we are just beginning to glimpse the bare outlines of a new economic system, entering on to the world’s stage. It’s called the collaborative commons and is the first new economic paradigm since the onset of capitalism and its antagonist socialism in the early nineteenth century.

ABL delegates found it extremely interesting to learn how this remarkable historical event has long-term implications for all of us in our day to day lives and how we can address the challenge of the global economic crisis, energy security and climate change.

Other most interesting debates were attended by speakers from various sectors.
Sören Pettersson, Senior Investment Advisor at Business Sweden, moderated the debate on Why and How to Invest in Sweden. We hereby thank our panelists Tord Fredriksson - Tax Director at Grant Thornton Sweden AB - Tobias Samuelsson - Senior Legal Counsel at arvato Financial Solutions – and Jessica Sunnervall - Associate at Salmi & Partners -  for their valuable contributions.

At ABL we believe in giving back to the community. That’s why we are proud to announce that the ABL Award 2015 was handed over to Angeles Bermudez-Svankvist, founder of the Angeles Fund Tuki Nepal.
Angeles Fund was established in 2008 with the purpose of helping young Nepali women to get access to education. Because of the extremely high cost of higher education in Nepal, going to university is often a mere dream for most of the young people in Nepal, in particular for girls.

ABL is delighted to be able to support this project and help improve Nepali girls’ access to education.
With the ABL Award we hope to make a difference to local projects that benefit education.

Special recognition and thanks goes out to Salmi & Partners for hosting the event and to IPSA International and SOFAR S.p.a. for sponsoring this fruitful 31st ABL Conference.
